RESOLUTION NO. R99-1438

A resolution recognizing McGavock Comprehensive High School Teacher Charlotte McBee on being named Educator of the Year by the National High School Association.

WHEREAS, one of Metro’s best and brightest teachers, Charlotte McBee, was recently named Educator of the Year by the National High School Association (NHSA); and

WHEREAS, Ms. McBee began teaching 37 years ago, and currently teaches Honors and Advanced Placement Biology at McGavock Comprehensive High School; and

WHEREAS, Ms. McBee, along with five other national finalists, were recently feted at a banquet at which time they each received a $500 award for personal use; and

WHEREAS, last fall Ms. McBee was selected as Tennessee’s Teacher of the Year by the National Association of Biology Teachers; and

WHEREAS, this designation in not only a significant honor for Ms. McBee, but it is a testament to the educational excellence of McGavock Comprehensive High School, as well as of the entire area of Nashville and Davidson County;

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Charlotte McBee on being named Educator of the Year.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as recognizing McGavock Comprehensive High School teacher Charlotte McBee on being named Educator of the Year by the National High School Association.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a certificate to be presented to Ms. Charlotte McBee.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
