RESOLUTION NO. R99-1407

A resolution honoring Miss Pauline Sterry upon her retirement following 50 Years of service with the Metropolitan Public School System.

 WHEREAS, in September 1948, Miss Pauline Sterry began her career as a Secretary with the Metropolitan Public School System and was assigned to work at Joelton High School; and

WHEREAS, on October 31, 1998, Miss Sterry retired after completing 50 Years of dedicated and faithful service at Joelton High School and Joelton Middle School; and

WHEREAS, during her tenure, Miss Sterry came to know and befriend at least three generations of students as they received their education at Joelton High School and Joelton Middle School; and

WHEREAS, throughout her career, Miss Sterry was known for her dedicated public service to the public school system, for being a tireless aide to the administration and faculty, and for being a trusted friend and confidant to students and parents; and

WHEREAS, since her retirement Miss Sterry has continued to keep active and to serve the community by giving of her time and service to perform volunteer work at Nashville Memorial Hospital; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Miss Pauline Sterry upon her retirement from service as Secretary at Joelton High School and Joelton Middle School.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as honoring Miss Pauline Sterry upon her retirement from service following 50 Years of dedicated service with the Metropolitan Public School System.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a certificate to be presented to Miss Pauline Sterry as she is honored at a reception at Joelton Church of Christ on January 24, 1999.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
