RESOLUTION NO. R99-1403

A resolution authorizing the Metropolitan Department of Law to compromise and settle the claim of Barbara Thompson against The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County in the amount of $18,000.

Whereas, Barbara Thompson was an employee at the Metropolitan Action Commission; and

Whereas, Barbara Thompson was terminated from employment effective April 3, 1997;

Whereas, there is an issue concerning the legality of her termination;

Whereas, any liability in this matter is denied but the Metropolitan Department of Law believes that given all the facts of the case, it is in the best interests of the Metropolitan Government to settle this matter;

Whereas, the Metropolitan Department of Law believes that the settlement amount indicated above is fair and reasonable and recommends that this claim be compromised and settled and that this amount be paid from the Metropolitan Action Commission Administration Business Unit account, 753010000.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1: The Metropolitan Department of Law is authorized to compromise and settle all claims of Plaintiff, Barbara Thompson, case no. 3:98-0294, United States District Court, Middle District Tennessee at Nashville, in the amount of $18,000, and that said amount should be paid from the Metropolitan Action Commission Administration Business Unit account, 753010000.

Section 2: This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
