RESOLUTION NO. R99-1387
A resolution requesting the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly to support the adoption of legislation that would lower the blood alcohol content presumption level to .08% for driving under the influence purposes.
WHEREAS, legislation has been filed with the Tennessee General Assembly which would lower the blood alcohol content from .10% to .08% to create a presumption of intoxication under the driving under the influence prohibition; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan County Council supports the lowering of the blood alcohol content to promote safe highways, streets and roads within the area of the Metropolitan Government and the State of Tennessee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. The Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly to support the adoption of legislation that would lower the blood alcohol content presumption level to .08% for driving under the influence purposes.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to each member of the Davidson County Delegation.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
