RESOLUTION NO. R99-1378

A resolution recognizing the Father Ryan High School Girls Soccer Team on winning the TSSAA Division II Soccer Championship.

WHEREAS, the Nashville Community was proud and honored this fall as the Father Ryan Girls Soccer Team finished first place in the TSSAA Division II Championship; and

WHEREAS, the team won the Division II girls title on November 6, 1998, at Finley Stadium, beating the Girls Preparatory School by the score of 1-0; and

WHEREAS, this victory was the school’s first title in girls soccer; and

WHEREAS, this talented team was directed by Father Ryan Head Coach Robin Dieterich, and the team finished the season with a record of 18-3-2; and

WHEREAS, by their performance the players and coaches have brought recognition to the Metropolitan Government area for not only their athletic abilities, but for their exceptional team play, their sportsmanship, and their dedication; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize the Father Ryan Girls Soccer Team on being named Division II State Champions in the TSSAA Tournament.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the Father Ryan Girls Soccer Team on winning the Division II State Champions in the TSSAA Tournament.

SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Council Staff Office is hereby directed to prepare certificates to be presented to the coaches and to each member of the team.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
