RESOLUTION NO. R98-1355
A resolution joining the Interfaith Recovery Board and the Disaster Recovery Board in expressing thanksgiving for the state of recovery from the April 16, 1998, tornado, and the efforts of the community to restore our community from the damage of this disaster, and honoring Carolyn Tyler for her outstanding service to the Interfaith Recovery Board.
WHEREAS, on April 16, 1998, the area of the Metropolitan Government was struck by a tremendous tornado which caused extensive damage to property, especially in the area of East Nashville; and
WHEREAS, extensive volunteer efforts, together with governmental agencies, have worked tirelessly to not only restore property damaged by the tornado, but to restore the spirit and quality of life to those residents who were adversely affected by this storm; and
WHEREAS, the Interfaith Recovery Board and the Disaster Recovery Board have provided leadership in this recovery effort; and
WHEREAS, a Thanksgiving Service will be held on Sunday, November 21, 1998, at 3:30 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church to express thanksgiving and recognizing the state of recovery from this disaster by the people of Nashville; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Government go on record as expressing thanksgiving for this remarkable recovery and commending the efforts of those who have made it possible; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that Carolyn Tyler be recognized for her outstanding efforts to the Interfaith Recovery Board during this time of need.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as joining the Interfaith Recovery Board and the Disaster Recovery Board in expressing thanksgiving for the state of recovery from the April 16, 1998, tornado, and the efforts of the community to restore our community from the damage of this disaster.
SECTION 2. Further, it is fitting and proper that Carolyn Tyler be recognized for her outstanding service to the Interfaith Recovery Board during this time of need, and the Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a certificate to be presented to Ms. Tyler.
SECTION 3. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Interfaith Recovery Board, to the Disaster Recovery Board, and to Carolyn Tucker.
SECTION 4. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
