RESOLUTION NO. R98-1351

A resolution approving the sale of a parcel of real property in Cockrill Bend to Pioneer Steel, Inc., and authorizing the Mayor and the Metropolitan Port Authority to execute a deed thereto.

Whereas, The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County owns approximately 48 acres of real property in Cockrill Bend called the Cockrill Bend Industrial Complex for the purpose of developing and promoting commerce and industry; and

Whereas, in Bill No. 085-1042, the Metropolitan Council directed the Metropolitan Port Authority to oversee and promote the industrial and commercial development of the above-referenced tract of land and to sell all or portions of said land upon approval by resolution of the Metropolitan Council; and

Whereas, the Metropolitan Port Authority has agreed, subject to approval by the Metropolitan Council, to convey five acres of land to Pioneer Steel, Inc., for industrial development.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1: That the conveyance of five acres of real property in Cockrill Bend, further described by copy of a deed for same attached hereto and made a part of this resolution to Pioneer Steel for the sum of one hundred seventy-five thousand dollars ($175,000), be and is hereby approved, and the Chairman of the Metropolitan Port Authority and the Metropolitan County Mayor are hereby authorized to execute said deed and to perform any and all other lawful acts necessary to convey said deed and to perform any and all lawful acts necessary to convey said real property.

Section 2: This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
