RESOLUTION NO. R98-1350

A resolution to appropriate funds for the fiscal year 1998-1999 from the Recycling Rebate Grant to support the Metropolitan Government Drop-off Recycling Program; and to appropriate funds for use by the Solid Waste Division of the Department of Public Works.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government has received a recycling rebate in the amount of $174,817.76 from the State of Tennessee, Department of Environment and Conservation for Solid Waste, Division of Community Assistance; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government desires to utilize the funds for operation of its drop-off recycling sites; and,

WHEREAS, utilization of said funds for operation of the drop-off recycling sites will make available a like sum of money from the recycling budget for Fiscal 1998-1999, for other uses,

Now therefore, be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1: Funds in the amount of $174,817.76 be utilized for the operation of the Metropolitan Government’s Drop-Off Recycling Sites.

Section 2: That funds received from the State of Tennessee Recycling Rebate Grant Program (Revenue Code 267.06) be appropriated to the Solid Waste Fund for Fiscal Year 1998-1999 to implement these activities.

Section 3: That funds in the amount of $174,817.76 remaining in the recycling budget be reallocated as follows: $120,000.00 for use in obtaining a modular utility building for use by the Solid Waste Division of the Department of Public Works; and $54,817.76 for public information and educational activities related to recycling.

AMENDMENT NO. 1

TO

RESOLUTION NO. R98-1350

Mr. President:

I moved to amend Resolution No. R98-1350 by adding Section 4 thereof to read as follows:

Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect upon its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

AMENDMENT NO. 2

TO

RESOLUTION NO. R98-1350

Mr. President:

 I move to amend Resolution No. R98-1350 by deleting Section 3 thereof in its entirety, and substituting in lieu thereof the following new Section 3:

"SECTION 3. That funds in the amount of $174,817.76 remaining in the recycling budget be reallocated as follows: $75,000 for the implementation of a pilot wet/dry institutional composting program through Metro Public Schools and Metro Public Works; and $99,817.76 for promotional, educational, and start-up costs associated with blue bag recycling, drop off recycling, or continuation of some form of residential recycling."
