RESOLUTION NO. R98-1305
A resolution requesting the Mayor and the Director of Finance to recommend to the Metropolitan Council a funding source in the amount of $56,000 to allow for a 1% salary increase for employees of the Metropolitan Action Commission.
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Action Commission is primarily funded by federal funds; and
WHEREAS, employees of the Metropolitan Action Commission received a 2.1% salary increase for this fiscal year, and received a 2.9% salary increase last year, which funds were provided by the federal government; and
WHEREAS, the cost of the Metropolitan Government to provide an additional 1% salary increase for such employees, retroactive to July 1, 1997, is $55,939.71; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that if funds are available, the Metropolitan Council should provide a 1% salary increase for those employees, who are among the lowest paid employees of any Metropolitan Government agency.
NOW, THEREFORE, BY IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Mayor and the Director of Finance to recommend to the Metropolitan Council a funding source in the amount of $56,000 to allow for a 1% salary increase for employees of the Metropolitan Action Commission.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a copy of this Resolution to the Mayor and to the Director of Finance.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
