RESOLUTION NO. R98-1238

A RESOLUTION APPROVING LETTERS OF AGREEMENTS CONCERNING THE APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS FROM THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION, TO THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY FOR THE BENEFIT OF ITS DEPARTMENTS AND NONPROFIT AGENCIES IN THE METROPOLITAN DAVIDSON COUNTY AREA.

WHEREAS, pursuant to the terms and conditions stated in Section 12, of the 1998 State Appropriations Act, the State of Tennessee, department of finance and administration has appropriated funds to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to be accepted on behalf of its departments and nonprofit civic; and

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that these letters of agreements be approved and the funds be appropriated to the stated departments and nonprofit civic organizations.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1: That the letters of agreements from the State of Tennessee concerning the appropriation of funds to the listed nonprofit civic organizations and departments of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, copies of which are attached, are hereby approved and the Metropolitan Mayor has the authority to execute the same.

SECTION 2: That the Metropolitan Council hereby approves the following appropriations to the nonprofit civic organizations listed below:

1. Four thousand dollars ($4,000) to Flatrock Volunteers Football Team to be used for equipment and field improvements.

2. Seven thousand dollars ($7,000) to Pitts Park South Hills Senior Baseball League to be used for equipment and field improvements.

3. One thousand dollars ($1,000) to the Elizabeth Park Senior Citizen Program to be used for the acquisition of equipment and supplies.

SECTION 3: That the Metropolitan Council hereby approves the following appropriations to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and its departments as listed below:

1. Ten thousand dollars ($10,000) to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to be used for the acquisition and purchase of books for the new library branch in Hermitage.

2. Fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000) to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Nashville Public Library, to provide additional services to persons of diverse national origins who are underserved by existing library resources.

3. Eight thousand five hundred dollars ($8,500) to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Department of Parks and Recreation, to be used solely for the improvements and repairs to the Reese Smith ballfield for the benefit of community children.

4. Eight thousand five hundred dollars ($8,500) to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Department of Parks and Recreation, to be used solely for improvements and repairs to the fields employed by the Harpeth Youth Soccer League in order that more children can participate in this worthy sport.

5. Eight thousand five hundred dollars ($8,500) to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Department of Parks and Recreation, to be used solely for repairs and improvements of the stands and fields used by the Bellevue Steelers.

6. Twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Department of Parks and Recreation, to be used for improvements to West Park ballfields and facilities.

SECTION 4: That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
