RESOLUTION NO. R98-1220
A RESOLUTION APPROPRIATING $500,000 IN URBAN DEVELOPMENT ACTION GRANT (UDAG) REPAYMENTS TO THE METROPOLITAN DEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING AGENCY FOR VINE HILL HOMES.
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency is undertaking a HOPE VI affordable housing initiative for the Vine Hill Homes which will replace the current deteriorated public housing with a new less-dense development; and
WHEREAS, the new Vine Hill housing program will be linked to job training and other supportive services geared to permit public housing residents to become economically self-sufficient within a five-year residency; and
WHEREAS, the new Vine Hill housing will provide both affordable housing and economic up-lift for residents of the UDAG Pocket of Poverty; and
WHEREAS, MDHA is in need of funding in addition to that already committed by the federal government, the Tennessee Housing Development Agency, and MDHA.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE:
SECTION 1. That $500,000 in Urban Development Action Grant repayments be allocated to the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency to be used for the HOPE VI program to revitalize the Vine Hill Homes housing development.
SECTION 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
