RESOLUTION NO. R98-1195
A resolution declaring August 4, 1998, as Nashvilles Night Out Against Crime 1998.
WHEREAS, the "15th Annual National Night Out Against Crime", a unique nationwide crime, drug and violence prevention program sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, has been scheduled for Tuesday, August 4, 1998; and
WHEREAS, in Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County the event is titled "Nashvilles Night Out Against Crime" and provides a unique opportunity for Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County to join forces with thousands of other communities across the country in promoting cooperative, police-community anti-crime efforts; and
WHEREAS, the "Nashvilles Night Out Against Crime Planning Committee" plays a vital role in assisting Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson Countys public safety departments through this joint crime, fire and personal safety effort in Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County and is supporting "Nashvilles Night Out Against Crime" locally; and
WHEREAS, it is important that all citizens of Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County be aware of the importance of crime prevention programs and the impact that their participation can have on reducing crime, drugs and violence in their neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, police-community partnerships, neighborhood safety, awareness and cooperation are important themes of the "National Night Out" program; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council declare August 4, 1998, as Nashvilles Night Out Against Crime 1998.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY
:SECTION 1. That The Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as supporting the National Association of Town Watch by declaring August 4, 1998, as Nashvilles Night Out Against Crime 1998.
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
