RESOLUTION NO. R98-1170

A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE APPROPRIATION OF $15,000.00 TO THE NASHVILLE HEALTH CORPS PARTNERSHIP ACTING BY AND THROUGH THE UNITED NEIGHBORHOOD HEALTH SERVICES, INC., TO BE USED AS THE LOCAL MATCH FOR A FEDERAL GRANT.

WHEREAS, the Nashville Health Corps (NHC) is a city-wide public/private organization with representatives from hospitals, businesses, community and health care organizations, physicians, nurses and clinics working together to improve the health status of underserved Nashvillians; and

WHEREAS, the NHC is eligible to receive a federal grant in the amount of $470,034 for the Health Corps program which improves the health of children and families through weekly home visits to first-time mothers and their families; and

WHEREAS, the NHC acts by and through the United Neighborhood Health Services, Inc., a 501(c)(3) corporation.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the sum of Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15,000.00) is appropriated from Account No. 591.982 - Contingency for local matching funds - federal programs - to the United Neighborhood Health Services, Inc., for the use and benefit of the NHC.

SECTION 2. That said funds shall be used as a local match for a federal grant in the amount of $470,034 for the Health Corps program.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
