RESOLUTION NO. R98-1152
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SUBMISSION OF AN APPLICATION AND ACCEPTANCE THEREOF FOR A GRANT FROM THE U. S. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY TO THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY, ACTING THROUGH THE METROPOLITAN DEPARTMENT OF WATER AND SEWERAGE SERVICES FOR THE ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING FOR PUBLIC ACCESS AND COMMUNITY TRACKING (EMPACT).
WHEREAS, the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency has invited the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Department of Water and Sewerage Services to apply for a grant in the amount not to exceed Six Hundred Thousand dollars ($600,000) for the Environmental Monitoring for Public Access and Community Tracking (EMPACT); and
WHEREAS, the Department of Water and Sewerage Services is prepared to commit up to $92,500.00 of in kind service to support this project.
WHEREAS, the Department of Water and Sewerage Services submitted, on February 26, 1998, a Letter of Intent to the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency concerning this grant application; and
WHEREAS, the grant application requires approval by the municipalitys governing body; and
WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this application for the Environmental Monitoring for Public Access and Community Tracking (EMPACT) be approved.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1: That the application for a grant from the United States Environmental Protection Agency to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Department of Water and Sewerage Services, in an amount not to exceed six hundred thousand dollars ($600,000) for the Environmental Monitoring for Public Access and Community Tracking (EMPACT), a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated, herein is hereby authorized, and the Metropolitan County Mayor is authorized to execute and accept the same.
SECTION 2:That any amendments to this grant application or grant shall be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council.
SECTION 3: That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
