RESOLUTION NO. R98-1151

A RESOLUTION APPROPRIATING $45,000 IN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS FOR THE PURPOSE OF INSTALLING BANNER ARMS ALONG JEFFERSON STREET BETWEEN 8TH AND 28TH AVENUES NORTH.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County is entitled to receive Community Development Block Grant funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development; and

WHEREAS, the application for the 24th Year of the Community Development Block Grant Program as approved by Ordinance No. O97-995; and,

WHEREAS, the appropriation of these funds has been recommended by the Jefferson Street Commercial Revitalization District Citizens Advisory Committee to promote business within the Jefferson Street Commercial District; and

WHEREAS, the installation of banner arms is a continuation of efforts by the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency to revitalize the Jefferson Street Commercial District building on several other revitalization projects that most recently included the installation of new decorative street lights.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That $45,000 be appropriated to install banner arms and the corresponding eye bolts along Jefferson Street between 8th and 28th Avenues North.

SECTION 2. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Tennessee requiring it.
