RESOLUTION NO. R98-1143

A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO A GRANT BETWEEN THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY OF STATE, TO THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY, ACTING THROUGH THE NASHVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY FOR THE MARY AND CHARLES PRUITT BRANCH LIBRARY AND LEARNING RESOURCES CENTER CONSTRUCTION PROJECT.

WHEREAS, the State of Tennessee, Office of the Secretary of State, has awarded a Grant in an amount not to exceed One Hundred Fifty Thousand dollars ($150,000) for the period commencing February 1, 1998 and ending on June 30, 1998, to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Nashville Public Library for the Mary and Charles Pruitt Branch Library and Learning Resources Center Construction Project and such grant was approved and accepted by the Metropolitan Council by Bill No. 97-1010; and

WHEREAS, the State of Tennessee wishes to amend the effective period of the Grant to extend the term of the contract to June 30, 1999; and

WHEREAS, Bill No. O97-1010 provided that amendments to the Grant may be approved by Resolution by the Metropolitan Council;

WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interest of The Metropolitan Government that this amendment to the contract be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Amendment to Grant No. GG-98-07807-00 by and between the State of Tennessee, Office of the Secretary of State and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Nashville Public Library which extends the term of the grant from June 30, 1998 to June 30, 1999, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

SECTION 2. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
