RESOLUTION NO. R98-1115

A RESOLUTION APPROVING AGREEMENTS BY AND BETWEEN THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY BY AND THROUGH THE METROPOLITAN SOCIAL SERVICES COMMISSION AND COMMUNITY AGENCIES TO PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL SERVICE UNDER THE CARING FOR CHILDREN'S PROGRAM.

WHEREAS, effective July 1, 1997, the Caring for Children’s Program was transferred from the Metropolitan Department of Health to the Metropolitan Social Services Commission; and

WHEREAS, it is necessary for the Caring for Children’s Program to contract with local agencies to provide services for children including, but not limited to, parenting instruction, outpatient mental health counseling, child sex abuse treatment, sexual perpetrator treatment, therapeutic pre-school, day treatment/school, and afterschool programs; and

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Social Services Commission has entered into agreements with Cumberland Heights Foundation, Inc.; The Youth Ranch; DeDe Wallace Center and Buddies of Nashville to provide professional services under the Caring for Children’s Program; and

WHEREAS, the maximum liability to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for all of these contracts is three hundred fifty thousand ($350,000) dollars; and

WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 097-854 provided that such contracts shall be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council receiving twenty-one (21) affirmative votes; and

WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interest of the Metropolitan Government to approve this agreement.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the agreements by and between the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Social Services Commission and Cumberland Heights Foundation, Inc.; The Youth Ranch; DeDe Wallace Center and Buddies of Nashville to provide professional services under the Caring for Children’s Program, with a maximum liability to The Metropolitan Government of three hundred fifty thousand ($350,000) dollars, which agreements are attached hereto and made a part of this Resolution, be and the same are hereby approved.

SECTION 2. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
