SUBSTITUTE RESOLUTION NO. R97-875

A SUBSTITUTE RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF WATER AND SEWERAGE SERVICES TO HAVE ITS RATE CONSULTANT PREPARE AND SUBMIT UNIFORM WATER AND SEWER RATES TO THE COUNCIL FOR ADOPTION

WHEREAS, the master revenue bond resolution adopted by the Council requires that rates for water and sewer services provided by the Department of Water and Sewerage Services be maintained at a level that provides for efficient operation, maintenance, payment of debt service and adequate reserves for extension and replacements; and

WHEREAS, rates are now set based upon different classes of users, which rates may be modified to provide a uniform rate for service.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1: That the Metropolitan County Council hereby requests the Department of Water and Sewerage Services to have its rate consultant prepare and submit to the Council a study to assess the impact of a uniform rate for water services and for sewer services, without regard to the existing classes of users. The study shall be forwarded to the Council not later than one hundred twenty (120) days from the date of adoption of this resolution for further consideration.

SECTION 2: That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Mayor and the Director of the Department of Water and Sewerage Services.

SECTION 3: That the Director of Water and Sewerage Services is further requested to inform the Metropolitan Council of the actions taken in compliance with the request contained in Section I hereof not later than thirty (30) days after the adoption of this Resolution.

SECTION 4: That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
