A RESOLUTION APPROPRIATING $25,000 FROM THE CONTINGENCY ACCOUNT
OF THE GENERAL SERVICES DISTRICT TO THE MADISON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
TO PARTIALLY FUND THE PROGRAM APPROVED BY RESOLUTION NO. R96-165.
WHEREAS,
the Council adopted Resolution No. R96-165 on February
6, 1996 which appropriated $57,500 from the unappropriated fund
balance of the general fund of the general services district to
the Madison Chamber of Commerce to provide partial funding of
a planning and marketing study for the Madison community of the
area of Metropolitan Government; and
WHEREAS,
Resolution No. R96-165 authorized the Mayor to enter
into a contract with the Madison Chamber of Commerce for such
amount for the purposes stated in the resolution, which contract
has now been approved and prepared by the Department of Law; and
WHEREAS,
the appropriation provided by Resolution No. R96-165
lapsed as the contract was not timely prepared and executed; and
WHEREAS,
based upon the adoption of Resolution No. R96-165,
the Madison Chamber of Commerce relied upon action of the Council
and has incurred expenses in the program; and
WHEREAS,
there will not be available funds from the unappropriated
fund balance of the general fund of the general services district
until later this year to allow an appropriation to replace the
approved but unspent funds provided by Resolution No. R96-165.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT
OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. There is hereby appropriated Twenty-Five
Thousand Dollars ($25,000) from the Contingency Account of the
General Fund of the General Services District to partially fund
the grant to the Madison Chamber of Commerce approved by Resolution
No. R96-165. Further, when funds are certified available by the
Director of Finance in the Unappropriated Fund Balance of the
General Fund of the General Services District, the funds appropriated
by this resolution will be restored by appropriate legislation
adopted by the Council.
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and
after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government
of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
