ORDINANCE BL2017-987
An ordinance approving an agreement between the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Department of Parks and Recreation (“Parks”), and Memphis Basketball, LLC to allow Parks to participate in a youth basketball program operated by Memphis Basketball, LLC.
WHEREAS, Parks operates a youth basketball league; and,
WHEREAS, Memphis Basketball LLC owns and operates the Memphis Grizzlies, a member of the National Basketball Association, and the Junior Grizzlies, a youth basketball program; and,
WHEREAS, Parks desires to participate in the Junior Grizzlies youth basketball program pursuant to the Junior Grizzlies Agreement (the “Agreement”) attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit 1; and,
WHEREAS, approval of the Agreement is in the best interest of the citizens of Davidson County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the Agreement between the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and Memphis Basketball, LLC, attached hereto as Exhibit 1, is hereby approved and the Director of Parks and Recreation or her designee is authorized to execute the same.
Section 2. That any amendment to the Agreement shall be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council receiving at least twenty-one (21) affirmative votes.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
