ORDINANCE NO. BL2017-738

An ordinance amending Title 6.28 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws pertaining to hourly rentals of hotel rooms.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That Chapter 6.28 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws be amended to add the following new section 6.28.040, “Hourly Room Rental Limitations”:

6.28.040 – Hourly Room Rental Limitations.

A. It shall be unlawful for any owner, operator, or employee of any hotel, motel, or other similar establishment rent a room, intended for temporary lodging or sleeping purposes, on an hourly basis or for a period less than ten hours.
B. It shall be unlawful for any owner, operator, or employee of any hotel, motel, or other similar establishment to offer a discount or rebate for early checkout of a room, intended for temporary lodging or sleeping purposes, within a ten-hour period.

Section 2. That this ordinance shall take effect from and after its enactment, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
