ORDINANCE NO. BL2017-573

An ordinance to amend the Geographic Information Systems Street and Alley Centerline Layer for The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by changing the name of Avalon Drive to “Avalon Lane” (Proposal Number 2017M-004SR-001).

WHEREAS, the request for the name change has been submitted at the request of the Emergency Communications Center, by Metro Public Works, applicant; and

WHEREAS, the properties along the public right-of-way of Avalon Drive, north of Chris Street, are not currently developed and no addresses are in use; and

WHEREAS, the properties along the private portion of Avalon Drive, that extends from Chris St to Whites Creek Pike, are developed and current addresses are in use; and

WHEREAS, there are not enough remaining address numbers for future development that would be in sequence along the unimproved right-of-way of Avalon Drive which could cause confusion and delays in emergency service response time., and;

WHEREAS, the proposed request to change the name of this right-of-way has been submitted to and approved by the Metropolitan Planning Commission, and other relevant agencies of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, in accordance with Metropolitan Code § 13.08.015; and,

WHEREAS, the community deems it appropriate that said name be changed.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Geographic Information Systems Street and Alley Centerline Layer for The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, as enacted by Ordinance No. 2015-69, be and is hereby amended, as follows:

Renaming Avalon Drive right-of-way extending north of Chris Street to a dead end, “Avalon Lane”, all of which is more particularly described by lines, words and figures on the sketch, which is attached hereto and made a part of this ordinance as though copied herein.

SECTION 2. The Director of the Department of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed, upon the enactment and approval of this ordinance, to cause said change to be made on said Map as set out in Section 1 of this ordinance, and to make notation thereon of reference to the date of passage and approval of this amendatory ordinance.

SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect immediately after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
