ORDINANCE NO. BL2016-462

An ordinance amending Chapter 2.190 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws to clarify the online posting requirements applicable to the various departments, boards and commissions of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County upon the submission of reports to the Metropolitan Council.

WHEREAS, Ordinance No. BL2016-416 was enacted by the Metropolitan County Council on October 18, 2016, amending Title 2 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws to require all reports required by the Metropolitan Code of Laws to be submitted to members of the Metropolitan Council to be submitted in a searchable, electronic format and simultaneously posted onto the Internet website of the submitting department, board or commission.

WHEREAS, in furtherance of the objectives of Ordinance No. BL2016-416, namely prompt public access to informational reports, greater accessibility by the general public to such reports, a more informed citizenry, as well as general transparency interests, it is in the best interests of the people of Nashville and Davidson County to clarify that the posting of reports onto the Internet website of the submitting department, board or commission should be done in a manner that will allow the general public to readily find and access such reports.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That Chapter 2.190 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws, as enacted pursuant to Ordinance No. BL2016-416, is hereby amended by deleting subsection A in its entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following:

A. Any and all reports required by the Metropolitan Code of Laws to be submitted to members of the Metropolitan Council shall be submitted in a searchable electronic format and simultaneously posted onto the Internet website of the submitting department, board or commission in a manner that will allow the general public to readily find and access such reports.

Section 2. That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
