ORDINANCE NO. BL2016-179

An ordinance designating the position of business development officer created by Ordinance No. O88-586 as a position in the classified service.

WHEREAS, on December 22, 1988, the Metropolitan Council adopted Ordinance No. O88-586, creating the position of minority business liaison officer for the Department of Finance, assigned to class number 6699; and,

WHEREAS, the position of “minority business liaison officer” is now referred to as “business development officer”; and,

WHEREAS, as reflected in the job description attached hereto, the business development officer performs administrative duties designed to enhance minority and small business participation in the procurement of goods and services for the Metropolitan Government; and,

WHEREAS, Ordinance No. O88-586 provided that the position of business development officer shall be in the unclassified service of the Metropolitan Government; and,

WHEREAS, the Director of Finance and the Metropolitan Civil Service Commission deem it appropriate to designate the position of business development officer as a position in the classified service.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1: The position of business development officer assigned to class number 6699 is hereby designated as a position in the classified service of the Metropolitan Government.

Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
