ORDINANCE NO. BL2015-1057

An ordinance to amend Title 15, Section 15.16.390 of the Metropolitan Code by amending the meter size furnished by the Department of Water and Sewerage Services for residential domestic connections of consumers and customers from five-eighths of an inch to one inch or less.

WHEREAS, the Department of Water and Sewerage Services furnishes meters for installation on residential domestic service connections of consumers or customers; and,

WHEREAS, a growing number of residential customers require a one inch meter to provide adequate volume and pressure due to the distance or elevation of said customer’s dwelling or to provide the water volume and residual pressure necessary to supply a required automatic sprinkler system.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That Title 15, Section 15.16.390 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws shall be amended by deleting it in its entirety and replacing it with the following:

“Meters one inch or less in size shall be furnished by the department for installation on residential domestic service connections of consumers or customers. All meters above one inch in size shall be furnished by the consumer or customer.”

Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Tennessee, requiring it.
