ORDINANCE NO. BL2014-923

An ordinance authorizing the Director of Public Property, or his designee, to transfer to McRedmond Brothers, Inc., via the attached quitclaim deed, any remaining interest the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County may still have in a certain parcel of property located at the corner of Van Buren Street and 1st Avenue North, 0 1st Avenue North, Nashville, TN, map and parcel number 08205014000 (Proposal No. 2014M-024PR-001).

WHEREAS, the property located at the corner of Van Buren Street and 1st Avenue North, 0 1st Avenue North, Nashville, TN, map and parcel number 08205014000 (“the Property”) was deeded to the City of Nashville in 1868 and is of record in Book 39, Page 558, Register of Deeds Office Davidson County, Tennessee; and,

WHEREAS, in August of 1978, McRedmond Brothers, Inc., began paying taxes on the Property and the Tax Assessor’s electronic system shows that the Property was transferred to McRedmond Brothers for $38,000.00; and,

WHEREAS, there is no record of the transfer deed recorded with the Register of Deeds; and,

WHEREAS, the transfer of the Property via quitclaim deed is required by the Metropolitan Government to clarify any issues of title or ownership of the Property; and,

WHEREAS, the citizens of Nashville and Davidson County will benefit through the actions contemplated herein.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Director of Public Property, or his designee, is authorized to transfer to McRedmond Brothers, Inc., via the quitclaim deed attached hereto as Exhibit A, conveying any remaining interest the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County may still have in a certain parcel of property located at located at the corner of Van Buren Street and 1st Avenue North, 0 1st Avenue North, Nashville, TN, map and parcel number 08205014000.

Section 2. That this ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
