ORDINANCE NO. BL2014-748

An ordinance approving an agreement by and between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Arts Commission, and the WESTAF for archiving public art (Public Art Archive), and authorizing the execution of the same.

WHEREAS, the Public Art Archive (“PAA”) project, operated by WESTAF, is a national effort to increase public awareness and stewardship of public artworks. The PAA database is a free, online and mobile accessible catalog of completed public artworks worldwide. The PAA will archive Nashville’s Public Art Collection records in a single, centrally located database, making these works easily accessible to all audiences, including researchers, authors, academics, policy-makers, tourists, artists, administrators, and the general public.

WHEREAS, the agreement will be to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1: The agreement between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Arts Commission, and WESTAF for publicly archiving Metro’s public art, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved and the Director of the Arts Commission is authorized to execute the same.

SECTION 2: That any amendments, renewals or extensions of the terms of the agreement shall be approved by Resolution of the Metropolitan Council.

SECTION 3: That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
