ORDINANCE NO. BL2014-668

An ordinance approving a memorandum of understanding between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and Belmont University to create a Joint Information Center on the Belmont University campus in the event of a major disaster.

WHEREAS, the Mayor’s Office of Emergency Management (“OEM”) and Belmont University have worked together to develop a plan to create a Joint Information Center on the Belmont University campus in the event that a major disaster should strike the area of the Metropolitan Government; and,

WHEREAS, the Joint Information Center would provide a designated space for media to gather and press conferences to be held regarding the disaster; and,

WHEREAS, the procedure for creating the Joint Information Center is set forth in a memorandum of understanding, attached hereto and incorporated herein; and,

WHEREAS, it is to benefit the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this memorandum of understanding be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the memorandum of understanding between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Mayor’s Office of Emergency Management, and Belmont University, a copy of which memorandum of understanding is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.

Section 2. That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
