ORDINANCE NO. BL2014-662

An ordinance accepting the donation of $139,380 to the Metropolitan Government for the use and benefit of the K9 Unit of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department and the donation of $113,592.92 to the Metropolitan Government for the use and benefit of Metro Animal Care and Control.

WHEREAS, the Last Will and Testament of Patricia A. Harbaugh allocated 20% of her Residuary Estate, determined to be $139,380, to be donated to the K9 Unit of the Metropolitan Government for the purchase and training of a K9 dog; and,

WHEREAS, the Last Will and Testament of Patricia A. Harbaugh allocated 5% of her Residuary Estate, determined to be $34,845, to be donated to the Metro Animal Care and Control; and,

WHEREAS, copies of the documentation regarding such donation are attached hereto and incorporated herein; and,

WHEREAS, Patricia A. Harbaugh designated Metro Animal Care and Control to be the beneficiaries of two retirement accounts, determined to contain $24,710.38 and $54,037.54, respectively; and,

WHEREAS, copies of the documentation regarding the distribution of the retirement accounts are attached hereto and incorporated herein; and

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that these donations be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the donation of $139,380 to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, for the use and benefit of the K9 Unit, and the donation of $34,845 to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, for the use and benefit of Metro Animal Care and Control, a division of the Metropolitan Public Health Department, pursuant to the donation documentation attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same, and the K9 Unit of the Police Department and Metro Animal Care and Control are authorized to accept the donations for their use and benefit.

Section 2. That the donation of $24,710.38 and $54,037.54 from the retirement accounts, pursuant to the distribution documentation attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same, and Metro Animal Care and Control is authorized to accept the donations for its use and benefit.

Section 3. That the donation of $139,280 to the K9 Unit of the Police Department and the total donation of $113,592.92 to Metro Animal Care and Control is hereby appropriated to the Police Department and the Metropolitan Public Health Department, respectively.

Section 3. That this ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
