ORDINANCE NO. BL2014-661

An ordinance approving a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the United Way of Metropolitan Nashville and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Mayor’s Office of Economic and Community Development, to define each party’s responsibilities in implementing the Financial Empowerment Center model.

WHEREAS, the Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund awarded a Financial Empowerment Centers Grant to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Mayor’s Office of Economic and Community Development, to support municipal efforts to improve the financial stability of households by leveraging opportunities unique to local government approved by RS2013-560; and,

WHEREAS, the MOU attached hereto seeks to define the responsibilities of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Mayor’s Office of Economic and Community Development and its nonprofit partner, The United Way of Metropolitan Nashville, in implementing the Financial Empowerment Center model; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this MOU be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the MOU by and between the United Way of Metropolitan Nashville and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Mayor’s Office of Economic and Community Development to define each party’s responsibilities in implementing the financial Empowerment Center model, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.

Section 2. That this ordinance shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

Ordinance No. BL2014-661

Madam President:
I move to amend Ordinance No. BL2014-661 by replacing the MOU incorporated into Section 1 with the MOU attached to this amendment in order to match the term of the contract with the term of the underlying grant.
