ORDINANCE NO. BL2013-557

An ordinance approving a Memorandum of Understanding between UCLA School of Law, Gideon’s Promise, the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by and through the Metropolitan Public Defender’s Office, and additional Partner Offices, for the Law School Partnership Project.

WHEREAS, the Memorandum of Understanding between UCLA School of Law, Gideon’s Promise, the Metropolitan Public Defender’s Office, and additional Partner Offices, attached hereto and incorporated herein, establishes an agreement pertaining to the Law School Partnership Project; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Public Defender’s Office may obtain the services of a Fellow from UCLA School of Law under the agreement; and,

WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this Memorandum of Understanding be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Memorandum of Understanding between UCLA School of Law, Gideon’s Promise, the Metropolitan Public Defender’s Office, and additional Partner Offices, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, establishing an agreement pertaining to the Law School Partnership Project, is hereby approved.

Section 2. That this ordinance shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
