ORDINANCE NO. BL2013-555

An ordinance approving a lease agreement between the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and the Parkway Towers, LLC for office space in the Parkway Towers, 404 James Robertson Parkway, for use by several Metro agencies (Proposal No. 2013M-033PR-001).

WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Government’s 10-year lease for office space in the Parkway Towers is expiring; and

WHEREAS, the offices of the Public Defender and the Justice Information Services have been at this location since September 2003, and

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government desires to retain its current leased space in the Parkway Towers to house the offices of the Public Defender and the Justice Information Services and to expand the lease sufficiently to accommodate the offices of the Human Resources Department, the Human Relations Commission, and the Internal Auditor and is therefore proposing a new 10-year lease for this purpose; and

WHEREAS, this lease has been approved by the Metropolitan Planning Commission, and

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this lease agreement be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE METROPOLITAN COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1: That the lease agreement entered into between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and the Parkway Towers, LLC, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.

Section 2: That any new amendments to this lease agreement shall be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council receiving twenty-one affirmative votes.

Section 3: That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
