ORDINANCE NO. BL2013-478

An ordinance creating the position of Information Systems Deputy Director.

WHEREAS, Section 12.10 of the Metropolitan Charter provides that newly created positions within the Metropolitan Government shall be approved by ordinance; and,

WHEREAS, the Information Technology Services Department of the Metropolitan Government owns and manages highly technical, critical components of the Metropolitan Government’s IT infrastructure; and,

WHEREAS, currently there is no position of deputy director which could offer an unambiguous line of authority from the Director and provide assistance to the Director in terms of operational activities; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan County Mayor, the Director of the Information Technology Services Department, and the Metropolitan Civil Service Commission all deem it necessary to create the position of Information Systems Deputy Director.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1: There is hereby created the position of Information Systems Deputy Director, which shall be assigned to Class Number 10724. This position shall be in the classified service of the Metropolitan Government. A copy of the current job description, as approved by the Civil Service Commission, is attached as Exhibit A.

Section 2: This ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
