ORDINANCE NO. BL2012-324

An ordinance providing the honorary designation of “Musicians Way” for Gay Street between James Robertson Parkway and Fifth Avenue North.

WHEREAS, The Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum was founded in Nashville in 2006; and

WHEREAS, The MHOF&M has relocated to the Historic Nashville Municipal Auditorium; and

WHEREAS, The MHOF&M honors musicians of all genres from around the world; and

WHEREAS, The MHOF&M will continue to enrich Nashville and its guests with its unique and extraordinary compilation of the sounds, instruments, pictures and memorabilia of generations of musicians; and

WHEREAS, The MHOF&M will enrich the Nashville “Music City” brand and will continue to be a valuable and beneficial destination for Nashville’s guests and tourism industry; and

WHEREAS, Ordinance No. BL2012-262 amended Chapter 13.08 of the Metropolitan Code to permit the use of honorary street names and signs without amending the Official Street and Alley Acceptance and Maintenance Map for The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council provide an honorary street name for Gay Street between James Robertson Parkway and Fifth Avenue North to recognize the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That Gay Street between James Robertson Parkway and Fifth Avenue North, all of which is more particularly described by lines, words and figures on the sketch which is attached hereto as Exhibit A and made a part of this Ordinance as though copied herein, is hereby given the honorary street name “Musicians Way”.

Section 2. The Department of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed, upon the enactment and approval of this Ordinance, to install the appropriate signage designating this section of roadway as “Musicians Way” in accordance with § 13.08.025 of the Metropolitan Code.

Section 3. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
