ORDINANCE NO. BL2012-298

An ordinance approving an Agreement among Equal Justice Works, the Southern Public Defender Training Center, and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Public Defender’s Office, for a national program called the Public Defender Corps, and accepting funding for the program.

WHEREAS, Equal Justice Works and the Southern Public Defender Training Center have awarded funding in an amount not to exceed $10,000.00 to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Public Defender’s Office, for a national program called the Public Defender Corps; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this funding be accepted and this agreement be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Memorandum of Agreement among Equal Justice Works, the Southern Public Defender Training Center, and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Public Defender’s Office, a copy of which agreement is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the funding for the program in an amount not to exceed $10,000 is hereby accepted.

Section 2. That the amount in this agreement is to be appropriated to the Metropolitan Public Defender’s Office based on revenues estimated to be received and any match to be applied.

Section 3. That this ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
