ORDINANCE NO. BL2012-294

An ordinance amending Chapter 4.12 of the Metropolitan Code to require certain sole source contracts to be approved by a resolution adopted by the Metropolitan Council.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. Section 4.12.060 of the Metropolitan Code is hereby amended by adding the following provision at the end thereof:

“Notwithstanding the foregoing, no sole source contract for the purchase of goods or services with a total contract amount in excess of two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) may be entered into unless and until such contract has been approved by resolution duly adopted by the council by twenty-one affirmative votes.”

Section 2. That this Ordinance shall take effect immediately after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

Madam President:

I move to amend Ordinance No. BL2012-294 by deleting Section 1 in its entirety and substituting with the following new Section 1:

Section 1. Section 4.12.060 of the Metropolitan Code is hereby amended by adding the following provision at the end thereof:

“Notwithstanding the foregoing, no sole source contract for the purchase of goods or services, including contracts for economic development initiatives and services, with a total contract amount in excess of two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) may be entered into unless and until such contract has been approved by resolution duly adopted by the council by twenty-one affirmative votes.”
