ORDINANCE NO. BL2012-213

An Ordinance amending Chapter 2.64 of the Metropolitan Code to require members of boards and commissions to provide an email address and telephone number for posting on the nashville.gov website.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That Chapter 2.64 of the Code of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Organization and Operation of Boards and Commissions, is hereby amended by adding the following new Section 2.64.055:

2.64.055 Contact information for members of boards and commissions.
A. Members appointed to each board or commission shall provide the metropolitan clerk with a valid email address and telephone number for publication on the nashville.gov website.
B. Such email address can be either a personal or business address, and such telephone number can be a home, business, or mobile telephone number.
C. Members of boards and commissions shall notify the metropolitan clerk of any change in the email address and phone number to be posted.
D. The metropolitan clerk shall notify the council rules-confirmations-public elections committee of the failure of any member of a board or commission to comply with the provisions of this ordinance. Upon receiving such notification from the metropolitan clerk, the chair of the council rules-confirmations-public elections committee shall place the matter on a publicly-noticed committee agenda at which the board or commission member in question shall have the opportunity to address the committee.

Section 2. That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

Madam President:

I move to amend Ordinance No. BL2012-213 by deleting Section 1 in its entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following new Section 1:

“Section 1. That Chapter 2.64 of the Code of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Organization and Operation of Boards and Commissions, is hereby amended by adding the following new Section 2.64.055:

2.64.055 Contact information for members of boards and commissions.
A. Members appointed to each board or commission shall provide the metropolitan clerk with a valid home, business, or mobile telephone number for publication on the nashville.gov website.
B. Members of boards and commissions shall notify the metropolitan clerk of any change in the phone number to be posted.
C. The metropolitan clerk shall notify the council rules-confirmations-public elections committee of the failure of any member of a board or commission to comply with the provisions of this ordinance. Upon receiving such notification from the metropolitan clerk, the chair of the council rules-confirmations-public elections committee shall place the matter on a publicly-noticed committee agenda at which the board or commission member in question shall have the opportunity to address the committee.”
