ORDINANCE NO. BL2012-111

An Ordinance amending Section 12.40.020 of the Metropolitan Code to enable the use of curb and street surface painting to designate areas where parking is prohibited or a parking time is imposed.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That Chapter 12.40 of the Metropolitan Code is hereby amended by deleting Section 12.40.020 in its entirety and substituting with the following new Section 12.40.020:

12.40.020 Sign requirements and use of curb/street painting.
Whenever by this or any other regulation of the traffic and parking commission, any parking time is imposed or parking is prohibited on designated streets, it shall be the duty of the department of public works to erect appropriate signs or to paint the curbs and/or street surface giving notice thereof. No such regulations shall be effective unless such signs are erected and in place, or the curbs and/or street surface have been painted, at the time of any alleged offense.

Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect from and after its enactment, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
