ORDINANCE NO. BL2011-28
An Ordinance amending Section 17.32.080 (On-premises signs in residential districts) of the Metropolitan Code to allow certain identification signs on residential property containing 25 acres or more in the AG, AR2a, R, and RS districts (Proposal No.2011Z-014TX-001).
WHEREAS identification signage on large properties can help to distinguish a private driveway from a public street and to identify the primary entrance to a property;
WHEREAS identification signs are intended to announce property identification away from the public street, not to serve as a business advertisement;
BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That Title 17 of the Code of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Zoning Regulations, is hereby amended by amending Section 17.32.080 by adding the following new subsection D.:
“D. In the AG, AR2a, R, and RS zoning districts, one single or double-sided identification sign on a parcel of twenty-five acres or more shall be permitted provided that the sign:
1. Has a maximum sign area of twenty-four square feet per sign face;
2. Does not exceed twenty feet in height;
3. Is set back from the public right-of-way a minimum of one-hundred feet;
4. Is illuminated by direct and steady means only.”
Section 2. That this Ordinance shall take effect five (5) days from and after its passage and such change be published in a newspaper of general circulation, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
