ORDINANCE NO. BL2011-917
An ordinance to delete Ordinance No. BL2007-1460 in its entirety and to transfer employees of the Homelessness Commission to the Metropolitan Department of Social Services.
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council approved the establishment of a Homelessness Commission as part of the Metropolitan Department of Social Services by Ordinance No. BL2005-582; and,
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council approved the transfer of the Homelessness Commission to the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency by Ordinance No. BL2007-1460; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to transfer the Homelessness Commission and its employees to the Metropolitan Department of Social Services, which has agreed to accept the responsibility to oversee the Homelessness Commission so that they may continue their work.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That Ordinance No. BL2007-1460 is hereby deleted in its entirety.
Section 2. That the employees of the Homelessness Commission are hereby transferred to the Metropolitan Department of Social Services.
Section 3. That the transferred employees shall be employees of the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Metropolitan Department of Social Services as of July 1, 2011 and shall be of the non-classified status.
Section 4. That any funds appropriated by the Metropolitan Council to the Homelessness Commission shall be managed and accounted for by the Metropolitan Department of Social Services.
Section 5. That this ordinance shall take effect on July 1, 2011, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
