ORDINANCE NO. BL2010-817
An ordinance naming the bridge on Old Harding Pike over the Harpeth River in honor and memory of Joseph & Bessie Formosa and Mary Jane McCormac.
WHEREAS, the Bellevue area of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County was hit especially hard by the May 2010 flood; and
WHEREAS, three Bellevue residents, Joseph & Bessie Formosa and Mary Jane McCormac, lost their lives during the flood; and
WHEREAS, Section 13.26.010 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws provides that no building or structure of the Metropolitan Government may be named except pursuant to an ordinance duly adopted by the Metropolitan County Council; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the bridge on Old Harding Pike over the Harpeth River be named the “Formosa/McCormac Memorial Bridge”.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the bridge on Old Harding Pike over the Harpeth River, as shown on the sketch attached hereto and incorporated herein as “Exhibit A”, is hereby named the “Formosa/McCormac Memorial Bridge”.
Section2. That the Department of Public Works is directed to erect the proper signage designating the bridge on Old Harding Pike over the Harpeth River as “Formosa/McCormac Memorial Bridge”.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
