ORDINANCE NO. BL2010-808

An Ordinance amending Section 2.222.020 of the Metropolitan Code to allow Members of the Metropolitan Council to act as a non-compensated representative for constituents before Metropolitan Government departments, agencies, boards and commissions.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That Section 2.222.020 of the Metropolitan Code is hereby amended by adding the following new subsection q.(3)(vi):

“(vi) A member of the metropolitan council from representing or appearing before any board, commission, agency, or department of the metropolitan government on behalf of the interests of a constituent or constituents, provided the member of council does not receive anything of value for acting in such representative capacity.”

Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

Dear Madam President:

I move to amend Ordinance No. BL2010-808 by deleting the provisions Section 1 in their entirety and substituting with the following new Section 1:

Section 1. That Section 2.222.020 of the Metropolitan Code is hereby amended by adding the following new subsection q.(3)(vi):

“(vi) A member of the metropolitan council from appearing before any board, commission, agency, or department of the metropolitan government to express the opinions and/or wishes of his/her constituents, provided the member of council is not acting in a representative capacity and does not receive anything of value for appearing before such board, commission, agency, or department.”
