ORDINANCE NO. BL2010-799
An ordinance to amend Title 17 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws, the Zoning Ordinance of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by amending the Downtown Donelson Urban Design Overlay District for properties located on Lebanon Pike from Briley Parkway to Stewarts Ferry Pike, and on Old Lebanon Pike, J.B. Estille Drive, Donelson Pike, Fairway Drive, McGavock Pike, Crump Drive, Park Drive, Graylynn Drive, Cliffdale Drive, and Benson Road (229.35 acres), to revise signage standards all of which is described herein (Proposal No. 2009UD-001-002).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That Title 17 of the Code of Laws of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, is hereby amended by changing the Official Zoning Map for Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County, which is made a part of Title 17 by reference, as follows:
By amending the Downtown Donelson Urban Design Overlay District for properties located on Lebanon Pike from Briley Parkway to Stewarts Ferry Pike, and on Old Lebanon Pike, J.B. Estille Drive, Donelson Pike, Fairway Drive, McGavock Pike, Crump Drive, Park Drive, Graylynn Drive, Cliffdale Drive, and Benson Road (229.35 acres), to revise signage standards, being Various Property Parcel Nos. as designated on Maps 084-15, 084-16, 085-13, 095-03, 095-03-0-A, 095-04, 096-01, 096-02, 900-00 of the Official Property Identification Maps of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, all of which is described by lines, words and figures on the attached sketch, which is attached to and made a part of this ordinance as though copied herein.
Section 2. Be it further enacted, that the Metropolitan Clerk is hereby authorized and directed, upon the enactment and approval of this ordinance, to cause the change to be made on Maps 084, 085, 095, 096, 900 of said Official Zoning Map for Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County, as set out in Section 1 of this ordinance, and to make notation thereon of reference to the date of passage and approval of this amendatory ordinance.
Section 3. Be it further enacted, that this ordinance take effect immediately after its passage and such change be published in a newspaper of general circulation, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

AMENDMENT NO. 1
TO
ORDINANCE NO. BL2010-799
Madam President:
I move to amend Ordinance No. BL2010-799 by modifying it as follows:
By adding the following new Section 3 and renumbering the following sections of the Ordinance accordingly:
“Section 3. Be it further enacted, that the following amendments to the UDO shall be made:
1. Page 22:
a. Add, “Portions of signs with manual changeable copy may be internally lit to illuminate the sign background.
b. Delete, “Wall mounted signs shall not be mounted on exposed raceways.” and replace with, “Exposed raceways must be colored to match the sign or the building wall that the sign is attached to.
2. Page 23:
a. Add, “Manual Changeable Copy Signs: Signs on which alphabetic, pictographic, or symbolic informational content can be changed or altered by manual means.” (p.23)
b. Amend the definition of monument sign by deleting “a low profile ground sign with a consistent base,” and replace with,“ a low profile sign with a base that is at least 3' wide or 50% of the maximum width of the sign (whichever is greater).” (p.23).
3. Page 25:
a. Revise the Non-Residential Uses: Ground Signage Table to increase the area of monument signs from 28 to 48 square feet and increase the maximum height from 5 feet to 7 feet. (p.25).
b. Revise the Non-Residential Uses: Ground Signage Table to increase the area of pillar signs from 28 to 42 square feet and to increase the maximum height from 12 feet to 15 feet. (p.25)
c. Revise the Non-Residential Uses: Ground Signage Table to allow the pillar sign in Subdistrict 1(the area around the train station) and Subdistrict 1A (Old Lebanon Pike around the railroad crossing). (p.25)
d. Revise footnote 3 of the Non-Residential Uses: Ground Signage Table to allow properties with greater than 400 feet of frontage two ground signs. Multiple signs on a single property shall be spaced a minimum of 100 feet apart. (p.25)
