ORDINANCE NO. BL2010-767
An ordinance naming the Tucker Road Bridge over Whites Creek in honor of Robert Woods.
WHEREAS, the Tucker Road Bridge over Whites Creek sustained significant damage as a result of the May 2010 flood, and has recently been reconstructed; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Robert Woods lost his life during the May 2010 flood while attempting to help others on Tucker Road in the vicinity of the bridge; and
WHEREAS, Section 13.26.010 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws provides that no building or structure of the Metropolitan Government may be named except pursuant to an ordinance duly adopted by the Metropolitan County Council; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Tucker Road Bridge be named the “Robert Woods Memorial Bridge”.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the reconstructed Tucker Road Bridge over Whites Creek is hereby named “Robert Woods Memorial Bridge”.
Section2. That the Department of Public Works is directed to erect the proper signage designating the Tucker Road Bridge as “Robert Woods Memorial Bridge”.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
