ORDINANCE NO. BL2010-681

An ordinance approving a contract between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and the Tennessee Sheriffs’ Association to provide enhanced victim notification services.

WHEREAS, the Bureau of Justice Assistance Division of the Department of Justice has awarded a grant to the Tennessee Sheriffs’ Association to manage the State Victim Information and Notification System (“SAVIN”); and,

WHEREAS, the Tennessee Sheriffs’ Association has offered the Metropolitan Government the opportunity to participate in the SAVIN program; and,

WHEREAS, participation in the SAVIN program results in significant savings to the Metropolitan Government, as well as providing enhanced services to victims; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this contract be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the contract between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, and the Tennessee Sheriffs’ Association, a copy of which contract is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.

Section 2. That this ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
