ORDINANCE NO. BL2010-620

An ordinance naming Music Square East between Grand Avenue and Buddy Killen Circle as “Patsy Cline Boulevard” (Proposal No. 2010M-001SR-001).

WHEREAS, Patsy Cline (1932 - 1963) is one of country music’s most beloved female singers of all time; and

WHEREAS, Patsy Cline began her recording career in Nashville in 1955 upon being signed to Four Star Records; and

WHEREAS, in 1960, Patsy Cline signed with Decca Records and, working with legendary producer Owen Bradley, recorded a number of hit songs including “I Fall to Pieces”, “Crazy”, “She’s Got You”, and “Always”; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of the tremendous impact Miss Patsy Cline had on country music and Nashville, it is fitting and proper that Music Square East be named in her honor.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That Music Square East between Grand Avenue and Buddy Killen Circle is hereby named “Patsy Cline Boulevard”, all of which is more particularly described by lines, words and figures on the sketch which is attached hereto and made a part of this Ordinance as though copied herein.

Section 2. That this Ordinance shall take effect immediately after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
