ORDINANCE NO. BL2010-619

An ordinance to amend the Official Street and Alley Acceptance and Maintenance Map for The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by changing the name of McLemore Street to “YMCA Way” (Proposal No. 2009M-004SR-001).

WHEREAS, the request for the name change has been submitted by the YMCA of Middle Tennessee; and

WHEREAS, the proposed request to change the name of this portion of right-of-way has been submitted to and approved by the Metropolitan Planning Commission, and other relevant agencies of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, in accordance with Metropolitan Code § 13.08.015; and

WHEREAS, said street renaming is for the purpose of recognizing the contributions of a 501(c)(3), charitable organization’s history of serving the citizens of the downtown area; and

WHEREAS, no adjacent property owners use McLemore Street as their business address, and each of said adjacent property owners has been informed of the proposed renaming and none have voiced objection; and

WHEREAS, the community deems it appropriate that said name be changed.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Official Street and Alley Acceptance and Maintenance Map for The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, as enacted by Ordinance No. 2008-346, be and is hereby amended, as follows:

McLemore Street, running from Church Street to Charlotte Avenue, between Rosa L Parks Boulevard and 10th Avenue North, is hereby renamed “YMCA Way”, all of which is more particularly described by lines, words and figures on the sketch which is attached hereto and made a part of this Ordinance as though copied herein.

SECTION 2. The Director of the Department of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed, upon the enactment and approval of this Ordinance, to cause said change to be made on said Map as set out in Section 1 of this Ordinance, and to make notation thereon of reference to the date of passage and approval of this amendatory Ordinance.

SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
