ORDINANCE NO. BL2009-420

An ordinance authorizing the Metropolitan Mayor to submit an Amendment to the Annual Update to the Consolidated Plan for Housing and Community Development programs to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council Approved Ordinance BL 2007-46 authorizing the 2008-2009 Annual Update to the Consolidated Plan for Housing and Community Development; and

WHEREAS, Metropolitan Council Approved Ordinance BL 2008-338 authorizing Amendment 1 to the 2008-2009 Annual Update to the Consolidated Plan for Housing and Community Development; and

WHEREAS, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (the Act) allocated funds to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to assist with the economic recovery; and

WHEREAS, HUD has allocated Community Development Block Grant funds in the amount of $1,316,347 and Homeless Prevention Funds in the amount of $2,012,994 to the City of Nashville in accordance with the Act; and

WHEREAS, the Department Housing and Urban Development requires local municipalities eligible to receive such funds from the Act to amend their 2008-2009 Annual Update to the Consolidated Plan in order to accept these funds;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan Mayor is hereby authorized to submit an amendment to the 2008-2009 Annual Update to the Consolidated Plan for Housing and Community Development programs to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in order to accept Community Development Block Grant funds in the amount of $1,316,347 and Homeless Prevention Funds in the amount of $2,012,994 to the City of Nashville.

Section 2. A description of the Amendment 2 to the 2008-2009 Annual Update to the Consolidated Plan is attached hereto and made a part of this Ordinance.

Section 3. That the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency is authorized to administer the Consolidated Plan on behalf of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.

Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
