ORDINANCE NO. BL2009-368

An ordinance amending Section 2.44.210 of the Metropolitan Code to allow the Chief of Police of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department to contract with smaller cities within the area of the Metropolitan Government to provide extra-duty police services.

WHEREAS, Section 2.44.210 of the Metropolitan Code currently allows the Chief of Police of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department to contract with private entities to provide extra-duty police services; and,

WHEREAS, certain smaller cities within the area of the Metropolitan Government have expressed interest in procuring extra-duty police services; and,

WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that Section 2.44.210 of the Metropolitan Code be amended to allow the Chief of Police of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department to contract with smaller cities within the area of the Metropolitan Government to provide extra-duty police services.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That Section 2.44.210 of the Metropolitan Code is hereby amended by adding the phrase “and smaller cities within the area of the metropolitan government,” after the word “entities”, wherein it appears in subsection A. and subsection B.

Section 2. Be it further enacted, that this ordinance shall take effect immediately after its passage.
