ORDINANCE NO. BL2008-330

An ordinance amending Title 2, Chapter 2.128 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws to broaden the necessary qualifications for Executive Director of the Historical Commission.

WHEREAS, the duties assigned to the Executive Director of the Historical Commission have increased to include administration of the Historic Zoning Commission; and,

WHEREAS, these duties require that the Executive Director of the Historical Commission be versed in zoning and land use regulations and law, and,

WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the citizens of Nashville and Davidson County that the required qualifications be broadened to acknowledge these required areas of expertise to perform the duties assigned to this position.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. Section 2.128.050A of the Metropolitan Code of Laws is hereby amended by deleting Section 2.128.050A and substituting the following:

A. Shall possess a degree in history, historic preservation, architectural history, or related field (e.g., planning, architecture), preferably with postgraduate training;

Section 2. Section 2.128.050B of the Metropolitan Code of Laws is hereby amended by deleting Section 2.128.050B and substituting the following:

B. Shall have at least five years experience working in the historic preservation or related field;

Section 3. This Ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
